Its The Ninth Month: I Gottagetblogging
The third Saturday in September finds hundreds of Florida bloggers and social media enthusiasts gathering for #FLBlogCon. The dazzing and world renowned campus of Full Sail University is the back drop and host site for this event.
FLBlogCon, is the #blogchild (yes I just made it up) of founder Bess Auer, whose passion and tenacity for expression are interwoven into the fabric of this conference. Like Bess, this event is full of energy and empowerment for the blogging and social media newbie to the experts in various fields.
The Honorable Teresa Jacobs, Mayor of Orange County extended greetings and the county’s support for the blogging and social media community. As a 16 year employee of Orange County government, it is good to know the Mayor embraces this medium and sees its relevance in the world today.
The CEO of IZEA, Ted Murphy was the opening keynote speaker. Ted was spirited and energetic in sharing the then, the now and what’s to come in the blogging and social media world.
My first session featured the tag team of Anthony Bencomo (Deli Fresh Threads) and Robin Draper (Authentic Florida) each of them shared ways to build your brand. My takeaways: Uncover your passion, find your niche, and become and an expert.
Sunshine J. Baker served up some great insight in the Bloggers & Brands: Maximize the Relationship session. As a bloggers you have to make the connection by giving good content, setting up your social media, consistently posting, connecting with groups, attend events, and quick delivery of assignments.
Lunch was provided by Tijuana Flats and they made this foodies tummy happy. From tacos, to chips and salsa with rice and beans to boot the meal was tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful from start to finish!
At the opening session I met a really neat guy who told me the wonderful back story of how had a blog post of his took get a lot of hits from Under the tile, “From Now On I’m Going To Be A Dick to Everyone I Meet Online”, Marc Ensign wants the to change the world. After our conversation I believe in Marc and glad we connected. Very humble, Marc never mentioned he was a panelist in one of the session for FLBlogCon14.
When it was time for taking a breather and relaxing, then I chilled in the Dairy Council of Florida Lounge. From wooden spoons ( one of the coolest tools) to info and cool ice cream treats, massages, professional headshots (love mine the most), coffee and teas, to social media content companies, it was a nice laid back spot.
Blogging as a Business; From Hobbyist to Professional with Heather Lopez. This session offered ways to make your blog turn a profit. Takeaways were that they are different methods for monetizing your blog, use sponsored post to tell a brand story, know what you can right off on your business.
Monetize your Blog was the last session I attended. Moderator Ben Reed lead the panel of speakers Crystal Duncan, Matthew Papa, and Brandon Yates as they discussed various ways to monetize your blog. From sponsored content, affiliate links, and various ad networks the panelist shared their experiences on what could work best for all types of blogs.
Eddie Selover was the closing keynote speaker as he shared the Pecha Kucha concept. Pecha Kucha is a presentation style with a format of 20 slides for 20 seconds each totalling 6 minutes and 40 seconds. This format makes the presentation quick and to the point with a flair for creativity.
Selover brought two dynamic presenters that were lively and kept the audience engaged as they shared a. This was a great thought-provoking ending to FLBlogCon14. As I left from the formal conference and transformed to the after party, I had a cupcake from Gigi’s I went over to the Ford display cars and took a few selfies. Looked to the sky and thought…IGottaGetBlogging!
