Breast  Cancer Awareness 2014

During October the world pauses in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness. The color pink is the universal symbol that is adorned on any and everything that can be turned pink. More than the color pink, is the opportunity to highlight and honor the living and dearly departed SHeroes and HEroes ( yes men are also plagued by breast cancer).

The more we learn about this disease of breast cancer, the more we can seek to defeat it in our lives. Breast cancer does not respect your status in life, your race, your education it is an invader that does not ask permission to enter your life.

I did my part by wearing pink each day during October. I also shared information with my team at church, at my workplace, and in the community. It was all about making sure the word about Breast Cancer Awareness touched lives in the world.

Last weekend I participated along with some 60,000 walkers in the downtown’s annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Orlando. Over 800,000 dollars was raised to help the American Cancer Society. I proudly walked with Team Yvette Register and Friends for the second year. Yvette is a survivor who has over 30 people supporting her efforts.
In addition to the walk, I was the Mistress of Ceremony for the Fit and Fly Tea Party to celebrate a Holistic Approach to Breast Awareness. My friend JaHari, has hosted a STRUT event for the last three years. There was great food, fellowship, and fun by all the  attendees.

As we see Pinktober  come to a close, our desire to keep the fight for Breast Cancer Awareness in full effect. It is my hope and desire to continue to do my to share with others information about breast cancer awareness. Everyday is a day to support Breast Cancer Awareness!
