Today is the 124th birthday celebration for the one and only Miss Zora Neale Hurston. As the world pauses to remember the genius woman of Eatonville, Florida’s favorite adopted daughter, I wonder what would Miss Zora think of this world and how would she record it. ” I have the nerve to walk my own way, however hard, in my search for reality, rather than climb upon the rattling wagon of wishful illusions.” Letter from Zora Neale Hurston to Countee Cullen like she expounds in the quote she walked her own way.

Since this post first appeared almost three years ago, Miss Zora has an auspicious author, a passionate poet, and a wisdom-filled writer the incomparable Dr. Maya Angelou, join her beyond the heavenly gates.       I love the way these two legends represent as authors, poets, writers, educators, women and pacesetters. I was glad to feature them in my last post.
