Where Does It Go…Time

Do you ever find yourself wondering about this incremental element called Time? All too often it is easy to consider Where Does It Go…Time when it moves from this place and space? It is 2012 and we are twenty-five days into the month, Where Does It Go…Time. Moments to seconds, minutes pass into hours, and then roll into days. The weeks turn into months and then the years march into view, it still makes you wonder Where Does It Go…Time.

If you are searching for more time realize that everyday finds it can only handle the 24 hours allotted. Learn to use your time wisely and be productive. While we are pondering about the activity of TIME, it is moving along and thinking, Where Does It Go…Time .

The Courageous Congresswoman

Tonight as the world paused to hear the words of the President of the United States give his State of the Union address, a light of hope shine in the person of Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford. President Obama and the members of the Senate and the House of Representatives could all stand and salute the Courageous Congresswoman as she attended her last State of the Union address as the representative from Arizona.

Watching the Courageous Congresswoman was a moment worthy of the honor and praise for how she has recovered from the near fatal gunshots wounds that would slow speech and steps but not her smiles and spirit. This week Congresswoman Gifford made an announcement that she is resigning from her seat to heal and help others. Walking into the chambers and greeting her fellow congress men and women was a joyous delight that for even that brief moment makes us look pass differences and embrace the beauty and strength that envelops the Courageous Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford.

Courage in the Chambers

In the mist of the mess of the congressional confusion on the debt ceiling vote and delay of the government shut down, we saw a glimmer of light and hope enter the legislative floor. After seven months of rehabilitation and recovery from the near fatal shooting that landed a bullet in her head, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords came back to congress to cast her vote on the debt ceiling deal. The congresswoman who was one of twelve victims of a deranged shooter during a community event in her Tuscon, Arizona district, has beat the odds and fought back from being counted out as one who would ever serve again. While the country has watched members of congress battle over policy and program reductions and the potential for running out of money to cover bills, it has come down to the final hours for a resolution to be reached. Yet it was the entrance of Congresswoman Giffords onto the house floor that brought each member of the house to their feet in rousing cheers and applauds, forgetting if for a moment about taking sides on the default of government operations.

Minority House leader Nancy Pelosi, said it best when speaking about the beloved and well received Giffords as she called her “the personification of courage.” ”Her presence here in the chamber as well as her service throughout her career in Congress, brings honor to this chamber,” Congresswoman Giffords also spoke to her position on the debt ceiling issue, “I have closely followed the debate over our debt ceiling and have been deeply disappointed at what’s going on in Washington,” Giffords said, in a statement from her office. “After weeks of failed debate in Washington, I was pleased to see a solution to this crisis emerge. I strongly believe that crossing the aisle for the good of the American people is more important than party politics. I had to be here for this vote. Today we experienced Congresswoman Giffords laying aside her power and privilege afforded her as a member of the highest legislative body in the land, to showing poise and patience as she cast her vote. In that moment of taking a stand, the Congresswoman displayed a level of courage in the congress that most people have loss hope in seeing. It is the courage in the chambers of Congresswoman Giffords, that more political leaders need to embrace as a way of representing the people who elected them to serve.

LIVE THE DREAM

“Yesterday we dared to dream, today we continue to find ways to live the dream.”~YoTrip

Over the last few days the hopes and dreams of the late, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were recited by the young and old, black and white, the poor and rich all over the nation. It is the words that the great orator, Dr. King that spoke of a time when we lived in harmony and equality was available for all men. For last forty years since Dr. King’s death, we have heard the message ”dare to dream” and then find ways to Live the Dream. Dr. King believed that his dreams were within reach and could be achieved by the efforts of all people.

Live the Dream is a call to action that all can choose to embrace. How do you view the world? Where do you see yourself in the world? What can you do to make the world better? Why is it important for you to Live the Dream? When will you start to do your part to Live the Dream? These questions are posed to help you put your thinking cap on and let your mind go to work.

Today and always find the path to Live the Dream by living your dreams. Let your dreams be your guide, your driver, your reason for seeking to be and do more. Live the Dream and know that when you dream, you keep your mind open to the infinite opportunities waiting for you on the horizon. Blazing New Paths

Comfort can be found in the faces, the spaces, and the places that you find to be familiar. In the land of familiarity, you find it is easy to be around people you know, things you know and areas you know. It takes a great deal of courage to make a decision to go beyond the familiar and comfortable.

Once you decide to move pass what you know to get to a place where you can grow, you are Blazing New Paths. Here is a great example of how to exercise that Blazing New Paths spirit.

For the last eighteen years Laketha Anderson used her pleasant personality to connect herself to people in her organization. From the bottom to the top of Orange County Government everyone had encountered Laketha’s big smile that lights up the room as she trained the masses on policies, procedures and process.

Learning was a key component for Laketha and she did not only speak it, she walked it by Blazing New Paths and obtaining a college degree. Recognizing that wisdom is important, Laketha always surrounds herself with those who have knowledge that was useful to her professionally and personally.

The need to move to the next level nudged Laketha to explore other avenues, Blazing New Paths was the next step. It was exciting and scary at the same time, yet it was time for Laketha to start on another journey and to start Blazing New Paths.

At Laketha’s going away gathering colleagues, co-workers, and well-wishers were feeling a torn between joy and sadness to see her depart from a place of comfort and familiar. As she fought back tears, I could see that as much as she loved her job, it was her time to shine and she was soaring.

Congratulations Laketha Anderson, former Human Resources Expert for Orange County Government on her taking the big steps and Blazing New Paths at Darden Restaurants in their Human Resources. Laketha, enjoy the next phase of your professional life, we will miss your smiling face in the place but know that you are going forward and Blazing New Paths.

*Let us not forget the people of Haiti, it has been two years since the devastating earthquake shook the island nation. The rebuilding is slowly taking place.

“FOCUS FORWARD In 2012~Turning Back Is Not An Option”

for·ward 1.toward or at a place, point, or time in advance; onward; ahead: to move forward; from this day forward; to look forward.

“FOCUS FORWARD in 2012~Turning Back Is Not An Option” is my tag line for this year. When I consider a means and method to progress, project and propel in the coming year, then I saw these two words fusing together. To solidify the tag line, I added the directive phrase,”Turning Back Is Not An Option”.

In essence to FOCUS FORWARD I have one expectation and that is to move on from where I was (past), to where I am (present), and onto where I want to be (future). While so many people are making resolutions for the start of this year, I am choose to expand my horizon.FOCUS FORWARD requires me to have a see it, say it and then do it mindset.

Has life found you feeling stuck in a rut? Are you trapped in a routine that yields you no joy or happiness? Do you sit and wonder about could have, should have, and would haves of life? Are you always thinking about when will things get better for me? Have your hopes and dreams dried up? Have you given up on achieving more or becoming better? Wondering about what could, should, or would happen is counterproductive if you are not taking steps to unlock your POTENTIAL for becoming better. When you take the time to act on what you can do, shall do and will do you will unlock your POTENTIAL for becoming better. Decide to talk yourself into doing positive things and spend less time talking yourself out of doing anything. Become your best advocate and encourage yourself to become a better you.

Hopes, dreams and desires have to be given the spotlight in your quest to unlock your POTENTIAL for becoming better. You must first envision where you want to be and what it feels like to be there. Once you have the vision, then you need the drive to what it takes to get to your place of better. After you put vision and drive into action you will need determination to keep hopes, dreams and desires alive and working.

Now is a great time to invest in unlocking your POTENTIAL. You can decide that where you are is not where you want to be any longer. You can take steps to move from off the back burner and to the forefront of becoming a better you. Take the time to plan, act, and become a better you. Be your best advocate and keep encouraging yourself to move forward. Use the formula of vision+drive+determination=hopes, dreams and desires fulfilled. Today is a great day to unlock your POTENTIAL and become a better YOU!
