A Poet People Should Know

Courtney PHOENIX White Courtney PHOENIX White

In honor of the 17th Annual National Poetry Month, I am graciously yielding my blog space to Poets. For the balance of April I will run and post my new monthly feature highlighting some amazing poets, YoTrip Presents: “A Poet People Should Know “

Five Questions For A Poet People Should Know

Who are you as a Poet? Please share something about yourself and your business.

I AM… intuitively creatively,

Uniquely divinely,

Physically ferocious

I AM…..THICKKKKK

Courageously tangibly,

Binding legally,

Loving me,

Never facetiously,

Yours truly and  literally…. THE… SHIT

I AM…. never the one you love always the one you left

But dear heart I am nobodys second best

I AM….genuinely essentially,

Caressmatically, infatically, certifiably

The infliction of desire and the FIRST… AID… KIT….

I AM…everything possibly and maybe plausibly

Sickingly, amazingly, strikingly, tastefully yummy

Emotionally and Educationally prepared no dummy

I AM…what you need motivationally, never inappropriately, obviously

Curvatiously, sexually, metaphorically, historically, classically, being me generally, non-egotistically

I AM…SO…..PO…ET….TICCCC

I AM…phenomenally, womanly, satisfyingly, intimately,

The one and only, don’t talk to me like I’m five or six lets just go FIVE..OR….SIXXX….

I AM…animalistically, seductively, passionately, erotically, voluptiously, sensually, romantically, work hard ethically, basically

Sincerely,…..MS….. PHOE…NIX……

I am the owner/CEO of Yume Ai Entertainment.  Yume Ai (Dream Love in Japanese) is an all female all African American company offers basic entertainment services to the public such as photography, modeling, makeup, choreography, song writing, and styling.  I am also an information manager for a company we have recently aligned with called Mxology 21 where we construct streamline event planning for social and corporate affairs.  Writing has always been a passion of mine and I have always written and posted for feedback since 2005.  I have been writing ever since I can remember.  My diary was my first friend.  I am definitely a busy woman but the train isn’t stopping any time soon.

What makes you a “Poet People Should Know”?

I am a  the poet/author of over 125 mixed themed published poems. I have been posting since 2005. The Phoenix bird represents rebirth and the ability to rise from ash with new hope. Because of circumstances surrounding my personal life in 2005, the poet “Phoenix” was born. I am known for primarily for Erotica and have even been referred to as the new age “Zane” however my genres have expanded over the years. I strive to be the voice of women who are afraid of expressing themselves not only sexually but assertively. My greatest desire  would be to “give confidence back to women”. I am currently working on her first novel entitled, ‘Anybody’s Somebody’ in which I depict  women who long for love but instead avoids self-worth and life’s trials and tribulations; replacing it with their insatiable appetite for sex. That replacement only increased disappointment and struggle.  My debut title will be released by FreedomInk Publishing, Fall 2013 via Oppidian.

When did you find out that you had that something special that you wanted to share with the world?

I always put others before myself.   It has always been a gift and a curse.   It has gotten me to the lowest point in my life as well as the journey I am sharing with you now.  I started off writing about my own personal issues and wants and needs sexually and emotionally.  I started to encompass a “No Filter” persona and my audience immediately attached themselves to it.  I am at the point where there is not a day that goes by that I am not called an inspiration.  Women relate to me.  Men are attracted to my raunchy slang.

Where can people find out more about you and your poetic work?

Feel free to contact her with any questions or inquiries at Yumeaientertainment@gmail.com. You may also contact Courtney Phoenix White at courtney@freedomink365.com or cw.writeforyou@gmail.com.  www.facebook.com/courtney.p.3 www.twitter.com/msphoenixfire and www.imaginemephoenix.webs.com

How do you make it all happen?

A lot of prayer and asking for guidance led me on this journey.  I work 13 hours a day and write on the weekends and whenever I can.  I’m living the dream of a shy little girl who’s only goal in life was to be somebody beautiful and successful.

YoTrip Chooses to LIVE LIFE 4/16/13

Great day in the morning folks! Decide right now to LIVE your life in the spirit of peace. #GDMF374

Chooses To LIVE LIFE

In the mist of all this darkness, disaster, and doom
I choose to LIVE and get beyond the gloom
It is so easy to soak it up and be consumed with it all
Now is the time to LIVE and not fold and fall
We must now take an action and that is to LIVE
Make it your business to go on and give
Never will we get this time to LIVE over again
So just choose life and go right on and win
We can make a thousand excuses and stay stuck in place
Or we can move now and start running the LIFE race
So LIVE life for the ones who gave LIFE without a reason
Take if from me now is the LIVE LIFE season.

Tuesday Thoughts were a bit scattered today

It seems so many things were coming my way

As much as I tried to focus, thoughts would not stay

Each time I felt I had captured it  did quickly decay

I know what really has me all caught up in disarray

You are running rampant in my mind keeping my thoughts at bay…

My name is Yvette Register. I help people manage the risks of every day life, recover from the unexpected and realize their dreams. I also inspire people to live out their God-given dreams. I do this as a State Farm Insurance agent, motivational writer of a blog called Beyond that Dream with Yvette Register and co-founder of the Cheers to Great Health facebook page.

I work hard but I am never too busy for my son, AJ. I love helping him work towards the fulfillment of his dreams!

What makes you a “Woman People Should Know”?

I am a 2 year breast cancer survivor. When I was diagnosed in 2011, nothing mattered to me but my fight to conquer the cancer that was trying to take over my body. I focus on living and trusting in the Lord to get me through it. As a result I am now cancer free and I promised the Lord I would spend the rest of my life telling others how good God is!

I want people to know that nothing beats having faith in God. I understand that tomorrow is not promised. I live with the believe in a win/win situation. If I die, I will go to be with the Lord. If I live I will get to be here with my friends and family to impact the world.

I give God all the glory.

When did you find out that you had that something special that you wanted to share with the world?

When I was a little girl I always wanted to be an entrepreneur. I always felt I was here to help others. Becoming an insurance agent is one of the fulfillment’s of my purpose. I get to help people in the most difficult times in their lives. I love what I do and am blessed to be a blessing to others.

How do you make it all happen?

I make it all happen by the grace of God. I believe Phil. 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Everyday I get up and work hard. Hard work is like planting seeds to harvest in the future. I plant and trust God for the growth!

"The Process"

Reblogged from Cristian Mihai:

Sometimes when I tell people I'm a writer they ask me about my process - how do I write. I find it to be a pretty funny question, and I often tell them that all I do is sit at my computer and type. Like I'm doing just now.

It might sound like me being arrogant, but it's not. I don't outline, I don't make plans.

Below is my sixth feature blog post in honor of Women’s History Month.  It is important that we celebrate the beauty and brains of women. Please enjoy learning about these fascinating women and then make sure you support them in their passions, projects, and products

Who are you? My name is Dr. Loretta Faith Harris, but I live by Faith. I am the second of five children to the parents of Meshach and Delrene Harris. My humble beginnings are in Pahokee “Muck city” Florida where I take pride and joy. There is a lot in a name and I believe that God divinely ordained my name. Faith foreshadowed my life’s encounters and experiences, which required COMPLETE and TOTAL Faith in God.

What makes you a “Woman People Should Know”? I believe that my genuine, transparent, and honest approach to share my life experiences make me a woman people should know. Life is everything but a fairy tale! When you have survived tragedy, adversity, and even experienced death, you adopt a new perspective towards life encounters. My experiences of overcoming death-defying odds and making it to my eventual triumph are chronicled in my award-winning memoir, “The Journey Less Traveled: Choose to Turn Your Tragedy into Triumph.” So, I say to anyone reading this blog, “Take the time” to get to know the true woman.

When I rise in the morning before my feet hit the ground I whisper, “Good morning Holy Spirit” because my Father and I are one. There is a reason I face my fears and skydive, rock climb, and run tracks. My shortcomings remind me every single day that my doctorate is just a title and had it not been for the GRACE of God, I would not be here! I am confident in who I am in Christ, yet humbled in spirit. Yes, I am a woman you should get to know.

When did you find out that you had that something special that you wanted to share with the world? I remember this day as if it were yesterday. I was a preteen, attending a church service and my mother took one look at me and said, “You are going to do something great with children.” I was holding a baby at that time. I did not think that I would end up becoming an educator, but I always knew that I shared a special connection with children. I always loved the Lord and would spend lots of time in my room as a child reading, dissecting, and writing down information from the bible. I understood everything clearly, as I read and when things were not that clear, I would pray and ask God to help me understand His word. When, “I” knew for myself that I had something special was when I experienced the LOVE of the Lord!

Where can people find out more about you? People call me the, Social Media Queen” because I can be found across the internet. Here are a few outlets that will give you a good overview of who I am and what I do:

How do you make it all happen? I can do ALL things though Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). Amen. I appreciate this HONOR.

Marian J Blige 2012

Below is my fifth feature blog post in honor of Women’s History Month.  This post is near and dear to me because it is my SHERO, my joy, my inspiration, the wind beneath my wings, my Mother. It is important that we celebrate the beauty and brains of women. Please enjoy learning about these fascinating women and then make sure you support them in their passions, projects, and products.

Who are you? Please share something about yourself and your passion.

Marian Anderson Clay is the third of seven children raised with love by her parents Joe L. and Ruth Anderson. I am a child of God, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, and a cousin. I am an active retiree, that loves the Lord, my family and my life! I was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia.  I attribute my upbringing to both sets of my family life; we spent quality time together and enjoyed being around each other.

I have a passion for volunteering. I have been a volunteer since my youth working with individuals in my neighborhood and then I really became serious when my children were in school (I was a member of the PTA and PTS). I was instrumental in getting a traffic light put in on a major highway to help keep my children and others safe.

From 1994-2002 I worked as a hospice volunteer with St. Joseph then Trinity Hospice. My patients were dealing with all forms of cancer, HIV/AIDS, men, women who were young and old. In 1996, I was named the Employee of Year for my volunteer efforts at the V.A. Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. Also I won a national award the Golden Rule Award from JC Penney’s for my volunteer efforts via the United Way, for my work with hospice patients. In conjunction with the Golden Rule Award I received a letter of recognition from President William “Bill” Jefferson Clinton.

Currently I volunteer with the Compass Mentoring Services Inc.; we work with at risk youth from ages 3-19 who are in need of life skills. We also assist the parents with coping and parenting skills. I also work with the Lydia Project, a group that focuses on women who have had any form of cancer. This organization provides bags of encouragement as women go through their cancer treatment. I work as a prayer partner and caller for the women in need. I am a long-time walker in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and I participate in the University Hospital’s Miracle Mile.

What makes you a “Woman People Should Know”?

I am people oriented and I have a love of and for people. I never met a person that I forget. I ask the Lord to help me remember people and he continually does that in my daily encounters. I am God-fearing and I have a strong Christ-like personality. My family (especially my three children Yolanda, Greta, and William as well as my grandchildren) are essential to what keeps me going and growing. I humbly submit myself to serve and be of service.

When did you find out that you had that something special that you wanted to share with the world?

In my formable years, I realized I had a need a love and a desire to serve people. I made it my mission to give back to others; it is my life’s work. If I meet a person in need, I do my best to try to offer them assistance. My parents instilled this concept in me and I have lived by it and did my best to pass it along to my children and grandchildren. My parents also taught me the importance of being responsible and it has stayed with me all of my life.

Where do you see yourself in the times to come?

My destiny has been decided and I know that my life has been full. I want to be wherever I am needed to serve. My aspirations are to enjoy myself no matter what comes because I know who holds my future. I am always pressing towards the high calling, which for me is Christ Jesus.

How do you make it all happen?

I realize that I can do nothing myself. I have to put all my trust and faith in the Lord. I do know this,All things work together for the good, for those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose.” I received a birthday card that said the following: “A women ought to appreciate her own beauty, value her own wisdom, and be surrounded by people who couldn’t agree more.”

YoTrip Presents: Katandra Shanel Jackson “A Woman People Should Know”

Below is my second feature blog post in honor of Women’s History Month. It is important that we celebrate the beauty and brains of women. Please enjoy learning about these fascinating women and then make sure you support them in their passions, projects, and products.

–Who are you? Please share something about yourself and your business.

1) I am Katandra Shanel Jackson. Daughter, Sister, Mother, Amiga, Girlfriend. Lover of children, animals, all things literary, antiques/old things, tattoos and 4 inch stilettos. I am the Owner/Operator at Sun-Kissed Under A Georgia Sky, Quilted blankets by Kat Foundation Starter of Angel Eyes Foundation, a 501c3 entity that is educating the masses and raising awareness about child sexual abuseChief Everything Officer (CEO), Editor-At-Large at FreedomInk Publishing… Overall Entrepreneur. I am WOman…2013-01-24 16.30.34.jpg

–What makes you a “Woman People Should Know”?

2) I feel that we each bring something different to the table which is life. What I bring is a never-ending oasis of creativity and ingenuity that is industry forward… not to mention my own nerdy, quirky, sassy, fearless sense of style and mannerism to match. 2013-01-29 22.06.52.jpg

–When did you find out that you had that something special that you wanted to share with the world?

3) My ‘something special’ was stumbled upon very much like that of unearthing a hidden gem! Books. I kept a diary during my pre-teen years and began writing poetry that was based on my everyday existence. Real life is sometimes stranger than fiction. At the age of 29 for the 2nd or 3rd time (I’ve officially lost count at that fountain of youth!) I began posting entries via my first blog. The Diary of A Bride To Be. A lot of folks were really relating and enjoying the entries and several were making comment about how I should turn the blog into a book. So I contacted several Literary Agents and after not getting the prompt and proper response of submitting the type of book ‘they’ wanted to read, I sought a Self-Publishing company and took the necessary steps to release my first in print book! Soon after I met FreedomInk 1st Published Author, Richard McKinney. With a major vote of trust and confidence from him, I published Redemption!! That was in 2011. It is now 2013 and at current, FreedomInk along with it’s imprint, Oppidian, houses 11 Authors, myself included and there are 17 titles under the umbrella! All but 4 have been published and released and are available wherever books are sold!!

–Where can people find out more about you?

4) My life is an open book. I’d provide my phone number if it’d speed the connection. The best place to find me is via social media. My facebook account is always up, Katandra Shanel Jackson / FreedomInk Publishing / SunKissedUnderAGeorgiaSky / Angel Eyes Foundation. Twitter @FreedomInk365 . Email me at katandra@freedomink365.com To connect with myself, the COO of FreedomInk, the Authors of FreedomInk, to learn about the exciting titles available, to learn more about FreedomInk, Angel Eyes, Sun-Kissed…www.freedomink365.com There’s not an app, but there certainly is a tab for that.

2013 fiobanner.jpg

–How do you make it all happen?

5) Lots of sleepless nights. Sacrifice. By the general understanding that in order for the dream to be achieved, I must take me as an individual out of the equation. Mostly I’m able to do this because no matter who comes in and out of my life, no matter the ups and downs, no matter the setbacks and do-over’s, my children believe in me! They are my life-force, my reason for being, my reason to give everyday my all. They are why I make it happen. They believe in me and that in-turn fuels the dream.
