In 1975, Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, a talented R&B group with a crooner by the name of Teddy Pendergrass singing lead vocals, recorded the socially conscience song “Wake Up Everybody“. The song made people pause and think about the state of the world and their responsibility to help make things better.

The song’s title “Wake Up Everybody” is a simple request for all people to come together and work in unity to make the world better. The lyrics give instructions and insight to our need to Wake UP, GET UP, and MOVE UP. It has been 35 years since “Wake Up Everybody” was a chart-topping hit. As you read the words did you wonder how much has changed in the course of the passing years. When will we WAKE UP, SIT UP, and STAY UP until the world is made a better place?
